The projector automatic focusing system includes an area selector module, a focal length setting module, a resolution calculation module, a contrast module and a control module, wherein the area selector module is used for selecting at least one analysis area on a projection face, the focal length setting module is used for setting a plurality of focal lengths within a focusing range of a lens, the resolution calculation module is used for computing resolution of the lens respectively at the end of each focal length within the focusing range, the contrast module is used for comparing the resolutions obtained by calculation to obtain the focal length of the end corresponding to the maximum resolution, the selector module is further used for selecting a plurality of sites within the obtained focal length, the resolution calculation module is further used for comparing the resolutions at the selected sites of the lens to obtain a site position corresponding to the maximum resolution, and the control module drives the lens to the position of the obtained site through a control motor.
