Embodiment Construction

[0034] Referring to the drawings, a leg adjustment device comprising a connecting element 12, a base element 14 and an engaging element 16 is shown. The connecting element 12 comprises means for securing the connecting element 12 to a leg of a piece of furniture, such as a table leg. In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1-9 , the device comprises a threaded shaft 18 at the first end 20 of the connecting element 12 . The threaded shafts 18 are configured to be received in corresponding threaded holes in the bottoms of the legs. The connecting element 12 includes a portion near its second end 22 which is slidably received within the bottom element 14 .

[0035] The bottom element 14 comprises a cylindrical portion 24 having an opening 26 in which the second end 22 of the connection element 12 is received. The bottom element 14 also includes a foot 27 at the end remote from the opening 26 . The foot 27 falls to the ground during use.

Abstract

A device for leveling and / or stabilizing tables and the like using a downward force and the force of gravity to adjust the position of a first and second member that can be engaged or released by a pivot means which engages with teeth on the first member into a lock position.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a device for providing adjustment to the legs of furniture such as a table as described in Australian Provisional Patent Application 2006904004 filed on 27th July 2006. Background technique [0002] A common problem with furniture such as tables is ensuring that all legs of the table lie flat on the floor, thereby preventing the table from moving. In many places (such as restaurants and cafes), the floor on which the table sits is not perfectly flat, causing the legs of the table to come off the floor and thus making the table unstable. [0003] On tables that don't offer any means of adjusting the length of the legs, the usual solution is to simply wedge something under the table legs. Some tables include feet that can be screwed up or down to provide adjustment. However this requires a person to get under the table to adjust the legs accurately. If the table moves, the process needs to be repeated. [0004] The pr...
