Abstract

The invention provides a method for indicating a resolution mode of a radio network controller identifier, which comprises the following steps: constructing a message carrying an indicator network element indicating the resolution mode of the radio network controller identifier, wherein the indicator network element is of a Boolean type or an Enumeration type and indicates the resolution mode of the radio network controller identifier by using a Boolean value or an Enumeration value thereof; and sending the message to notify an opposite terminal of the resolution mode of the radio network controller identifier. The method can indicate the resolution mode of the RNC-ID in a mobile communication system, and consequently reduce dropped call rate.
