During the production, the fire-retardant polyacrylonitrile hair imitating fiber is prepared by the following steps: in the polymerizing process of a fiber formed high polymer, firstly, adding proper amount of fire-retardant monomer vinyl chloride (VC) to polymerize with acrylonitrile monomer; and secondly, preparing the fiber formed high polymer into a fire-retardant fiber by a wet method.
