Embodiment Construction

[0043] Starting from the same reference mixture, corrections are made by means of step-by-step corrections to a color tone which achieves an acceptable residual color difference with respect to the associated color tone standard. As can be seen from the figure, in order to reach the target point, far more coloring steps are required according to the traditional method than in the new learning method. In fact it can be seen that the characteristic curve of the learned dynamic update method is already very close to the target point in the first shading step due to the high quality of the effect matrix.

Abstract

The invention relates to a learning method for calculating color formulas of pigmented color shades adjusted to match a target color shade, comprising the steps i) preparation of an effect matrix for the components present in a coloring system by suitable scaling, i) determining the optical material parameters of the target color shade, ii) selecting a suitable starting formulation, iii) determining the color difference between the initial formulation and the target color shade, iv) calculating a first adjusted color formulation considering the effect matrices, v) repeating the steps iv) and v) until an acceptable remaining color difference has been achieved, in which the effect matrices are constantly updated with information relevant to color shades in the running process, achieving an improvement to the prior known method of color shade formulation calculation both with regard to reduction in the number of shade steps required, and with regard to minimizing the remaining color difference.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a learning method for producing color formulas which can be adapted to fixed color specifications in a small number of steps. Background technique [0002] In the production of paint formulations, especially in the automotive industry, an important task is to prepare the shade with as little deviation as possible with respect to a previously determined target shade by weighing the components fixed in the color formulation produced in volume. Formulation components are understood both as colored substances such as color or effect pigments, and as non-colored substances such as binders, additives and solvents. In terms of process economy, the goal when tinting a furnish is to match the tint of the furnish to the target shade in as few tinting steps as possible. This matching is achieved by slightly varying the amount of colored ingredients contained in the formulation and sometimes by adding other colored low-intensity tint add...
