Abstract

The invention discloses a device and a method for implementing a domain name resolution agent function. The method comprises the following steps of: receiving a DNS request of a DNS requestor, and judging whether the request is a repeated request; if the request is not the repeated request, sending DNS request message to DNS servers in a DNS server list in turn according to a fixed time length, and waiting for receiving request response returned by the DNS servers in a waiting time which is smaller than or equal to the fixed time length; if effective request response is received in the waiting time, transmitting the request response to the DNS requestor; and if the request response of a certain DNS server is not received in the waiting time, reducing the priority of the DNS server in the DNS server list to the minimum. The method of the invention can identify an effective domain name server and an authority server so as to accurately and quickly respond the domain name request and meet the domain name resolution agent requirement on a home gateway.
