Abstract

A nasal delivery device for and a method of delivering substance to a nasal airway of a subject, the nasal delivery device comprising : a mouthpiece (519) through which the subject in use exhales to cause closure of the oropharyngeal velum of the subject; a nosepiece (517) for fitting to a nostril of a subject, the nosepiece including a nozzle (549) through which substance is in use delivered to the nasal airway; and a manually-actuatable substance supply unit (520) for delivering substance through the nozzle of the nosepiece.

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to nasal delivery devices and methods for delivering substances, especially liquids in the form of suspensions or solutions or powders or vaccines containing medicaments, especially systemic or topical medicaments, to the nasal airways of a subject. Background technique [0002] see Figure 15 , the nasal airway 1 includes two nasal cavities separated by the nasal septum, wherein the nasal airway 1 includes multiple orifices such as sinus ostia 3 and lacrimal ostia 5 and olfactory cells and is lined with nasal mucosa.
