The invention discloses a switch port detection method, which comprises the following steps of: a) configuring the address information of a registration server on a switch; b) configuring the address information of the switch to be detected on the registration server and starting a monitoring process; c) detecting an inserting or pulling action at a port and actively reporting the action to the registration server by the switch; and d) recording the inserting or pulling action and providing inquiry display by the registration server. By the switch port detection method provided by the invention, when the inserting or plugging action exists at the port of the switch, the switch can actively report the action to the server and the server records the inserting or plugging action, so that the aim of monitoring is fulfilled.
