Embodiment Construction

[0020] figure 1 A general perspective view of the escalator system 10 is shown. The invention is also applicable to other conveyor systems such as moving walks, and is not limited to escalators, although escalators are shown as an example for the sake of discussion.

[0021] The escalator 10 includes a chain of steps 12, a plurality of steps 14, and a drive module 16 that causes selected movements of the chain of steps 12 and steps 14 in a known manner. The escalator 10 has a first landing 18 and a second landing 20 at opposite ends of an inclined midsection 22 . The step chain 12 and steps 14 run in a circular path to carry passengers between a first landing 18 and a second landing 20 . In the example embodiment, the drive module 16 is located in the inclined section 22 of the escalator 10 .

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for lowering sounds in a conveyer system and a passenger-conveyer system, wherein a gap (36) is at least partially blocked by a device (40 or 50) for lowering the noise level in a passenger conveyer (10), and the gap (36) is positioned at an interface between two steps (24 and 30) to permit the relative movement between one step and the adjacent step. Sound paths including the gap are at least partially blocked by a sound transmitting and lowering element (40 or 50) to lower the noise transmission passing through the gap. In one example, the sound transmitting and lowering element is a blocking part for partially blocking the interface; and in the other example, the sound transmitting and lowering element is extended to completely cross the interface. In addition, a sound-absorbing material (46) can be fixed to the bottom side of each step so as to further lower the transmission of the sounds towards passengers or personnel nearby the conveyer.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of an invention patent application with the application number 200480041755.0, the application date being February 17, 2004, and the invention title being "A device for reducing noise transmitted through the gap between escalator steps". technical field [0002] The present invention relates to reducing sound in passenger conveyor systems. Background technique [0003] Passenger conveyor systems, such as escalators, typically include a drive module connected to a chain of steps. The drive module, which is typically positioned below a landing at one end of the escalator, rotates a chain of steps which in turn is connected to the steps, thereby moving the steps. The driver module is relatively noisy. In addition, vibrations from the operation of the conveyor system can also increase the noise level near the escalator. Such noise associated with the operation of a passenger conveyor system may be annoying to persons on or ne...
