Abstract

Systems, methods and computer program products for detecting electronic spam in raster images are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, the method includes identifying an object in a raster image; tracking an outline of the identified object; calculating an inclination angle of a tangent line at a plurality of points on the object outline; determining the object outline based on the calculated inclination angle One or more attributes of the contour, including the line segment length of the outline, the angle between the line segments, the arc length of the outline and the radius of curvature of the arc; generate an object feature containing one or more attributes of the object outline; The object features are compared to known spam image features; and if the number of object features substantially similar to the known spam image features exceeds a preset threshold, determining that the image contains electronic spam.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to the field of computer science, and more particularly to systems, methods and computer program products for identifying spam in images. Background technique [0002] With the increasing amount of advertisements for products and services based on unsolicited emails, identifying e-spam in email messages received over communication networks has become a pressing issue. There are many different technical solutions for identifying spam in ordinary text messages, but for textual spam embedded in images as well as spam images, such as images of unsolicited products, services, etc. task is much more difficult. Image-based e-waste can be difficult to identify because e-waste detection systems must first recognize the text in an image before they can determine whether the text can be classified as e-waste. For cases where no text is present in the image, the monitoring system must identify whether the image itself is e...
