Abstract

An information display system is provided in which an efficiency gauge of a vehicle information display may incorporate vehicle range information and an efficiency indicator. Range information may be displayed as areas on the efficiency scale that indicate a safe operating zone for average driving in order for the vehicle to reach a target destination before depleting on-board energy. By maintaining the vehicle's average travel efficiency within a safe operating zone based on driving behavior, the display can convey that the vehicle will be able to reach the target destination. During the trip, the safe operating area can be continuously updated to reflect the current state of the battery and the remaining distance to the target destination.
