A directory icon adjusting method includes steps: recording time duration of an executed application each time an application which is represented by an icon in a directory menu is executed, and storing the time information into a memory chip; inquiring time information of each application represented by each icon and judging if each icon is used every day; calculating the presenting size of each icon; generating the directory menu according to the calculated size and outputting the directory menu to a touch screen. A directory icon adjusting system is further provided. The directory icon adjusting method is capable of realizing automatic adjustment of the icons in the directory menu according to frequency of use by users.
