Abstract

This application relates to the provision of IMS multimedia content to devices that are not IMS capable (6a to 6d) or that are IMS capable (16) but are not well suited for said provided content. In order to extend IMS services to these devices, a gateway device (4) is provided which receives said multimedia content from a content providing device such as an IMS application server (14) or a proxy server (12), according to a protocol (e.g. Digital Living Network Alliance ) or media coding (eg HD video) to convert the content to an appropriate format and transmit the converted content over a local network (10) such as a Wi-Fi network, home network or enterprise network.
