The method comprises the following steps: a backup step: if judging that the mobile terminal satisfies a set condition 1, a server end identifies the mobile terminal as suspected loss, backs up data of the mobile terminal to the server end and then erases the data of the mobile terminal; and a clearing step: if judging that the mobile terminal satisfies a set condition 2, the server end identifies the mobile terminal as confirmed loss and clears all data of the mobile terminal. According to the invention, through respectively marking the lost mobile terminal as the suspected loss and the confirmed loss and processing the mobile terminal according to loss types in a different way, the mobile terminal can be more conveniently and effectively managed and the data safety of the mobile terminal is guaranteed.
