Abstract

The invention relates to a display apparatus and a manufacturing method thereof. The display apparatus comprises a display panel and a backlight module. The display panel has an upper surface and a lower surface which are opposite to each other, and a first side face which are clamped between the upper surface and the lower surface. The backlight module has a light guide plate and a reflection element. The light guide plate has a top surface and a bottom surface which are opposite to each other and a second side face which are clamped between the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the top surface adjoins the lower surface; the reflection element has a central portion and a side portion; the central portion is next to the bottom surface; the side portion adjoins the first side surface and the second side surface. The side portion comprises a light shielding board which covers a side rim of the upper surface. The reflection element is composed of polymer and has a reflection coefficient larger than 90 percents. Compared with the prior art, a conventional glue frame is omitted in the present display apparatus, and thus cost can be reduced and waste can be prevented.
