The organic white light material consists of an o-pyridine p-benzene bis(imino) cadmium complex [N, N'-bis(2-acetylpyridine methylene) benzene-1, 4-diamine] CdCl2 and an o-pyridine p-benzene bis(imino) mercury complex [N, N'-bis(2-acetylpyridine methylene) benzene-1, 4-diamine] HgCl2. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: 1, dissolving N, N'-bis(2-acetylpyridine methylene) benzene-1, 4-diamine and CdCl2 or HgCl2 into methanol, and heating and refluxing; 2, filtering turbid reaction liquid and collecting solid powder; and 3, washing with methanol to obtain the organic white light material.
