Embodiment approach

[0043] Embodiments of the inventive subject matter are in Figure 7 is illustrated in. A "system" 700 , operating according to principles described herein, includes a power device power router 702 , and a set of digital electronic switches (each, DES) 704 . Designations such as EAPR or DES should not be considered limiting. In general, EAPRs are implemented in automated computing machines, such as computer systems. EAPR can be conceptualized as a "layer" on top of existing powerline groups, and it is the power access layer. The DES can be any SCADA compatible device, or more generally, a network attached control device. As illustrated, each DES has a data connection 705 to EAPR 702, which may be over any type of network including, but not limited to, fixed line, wireless, or some combination thereof.

[0044] In scenarios where wireless communication is used, each of the DES and EAPR may include or have a transceiver module associated therewith. Transceiver modules may be...

Abstract

A method of queuing access to power shared by a group of electrical access points. The access points are switched on independently of each other and thus have independent power consumption. Each access point has a specific power consumption when switched on. The on-state and associated power consumption of each of the access points is identified, and the load duration curves for each access point are normalized (i.e., compared to those from the other access points (one or more a) load duration curve combination) into a probability distribution function. The probability distribution function is a normalized load duration curve illustrating a set of varying "operating states" that may occur (when viewed collectively) with respect to a set of access points. Each operational state has an associated probability of occurrence. When the operating state of a group (access point) changes, access to the power source is selectively queued or dequeued (if previously queued).

Description

[0001] This application is based on and claims priority from Serial No. 61 / 463,946, filed February 25, 2011. [0002] Copyright Notice [0003] This application includes subject matter that is subject to copyright protection. all rights reserved. technical field [0004] The disclosed subject matter generally relates to regulating electrical power. Background technique [0005] The modern electric utility industry began in the 1880s. It evolved from gas and electric carbon arc commercial and street lighting systems. The first power stations were introduced to industry by featuring four key elements of the modern electric utility system: reliable central generation, efficient distribution, successful end use (light bulbs), and competitive price. When the main and only end use of electricity is the light bulb at night, reliable central generation means that the electricity supply service is available for all electricity needs at all times. In the late 1980s, the demand fo...
