Abstract

The present invention pertains to a display device and method, and a program which enable high-quality three-dimensional images to be more easily presented. A display unit is a four-viewpoint display device having a parallax barrier. A plurality of blocks regions comprising pixels of a channel CH0 to a channel CH3, arranged in the direction of parallax, are disposed in a line on the display unit in the direction of parallax. An allocation control unit allocates a parallax image for the left eye or for the right eye to the pixels of each channel of the block regions according to the viewpoint position of a user. For example, the same parallax image is allocated to the pixels of two different adjacent channels in the direction of parallax. A generation unit generates a synthesized image by synthesizing parallax images for the left eye and right eye in accordance with the allocations of the allocation control unit, and the synthesized image is displayed in three dimensions by the display unit.
