Embodiment Construction

[0036] See now the attached drawings, especially figure 1 and figure 2 . The orthodontic bracket 10 includes a bracket body 12 and a movable closure member coupled to the bracket body 12 . In one embodiment, the movable closure member may comprise a slide member or binding slide 14 slidably connected to the bracket body 12 . The bracket body 12 includes an archwire slot 16 configured to accommodate an archwire 18 (dotted line in the figure) for applying an orthodontic force to the teeth. Binding slider 14 can be in closed position (see figure 1 ) and open position (see figure 2 ) to move between. In the closed position, the archwire 18 is retained within the archwire slot 16 and in the open position, the archwire 18 is insertable into the archwire slot 16 . The bracket body 12 and the binding slider 14 jointly constitute an orthodontic bracket 10 for orthodontics.

[0037] Additionally, the orthodontic bracket 10 further includes a resilient member coupled to the bind...

Abstract

An orthodontic bracket includes a bracket main body, a sliding component and a resilient component. The sliding member is slidable relative to the archwire slot. The resilient member is connected to the sliding member and is slidable with the sliding member. The resilient member is configured to engage the first portion of the bracket body in the open position and to engage the second portion of the bracket body in the closed position. The second part is different from the first part. When the sliding member is in the closed position, the resilient member exerts a biasing force on the sliding member in a direction of movement toward the archwire slot. The resilient member may be configured to apply a biasing force to the slide member in a direction away from the archwire slot when the slide member is in a position between the open position and the closed position.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 61 / 724,273, filed November 8, 2012. The disclosure of this prior application is incorporated by reference in its entirety into this application. technical field [0003] The present invention mainly relates to an orthodontic bracket. More specifically, the present invention relates to a self-ligating orthodontic bracket having a movable closure member. Background technique [0004] Orthodontic brackets represent a major component of all corrective orthodontic procedures aimed at improving the patient's occlusion. In traditional orthodontics, an orthodontist or assistant secures brackets to a patient's teeth and engages an archwire into the groove of each bracket. The archwire applies the corrective force that forces the teeth to move into the correct position. Traditional ligatures, such as small elastomeric O-rings or thin metal wires...
