Abstract

The invention provides a loop detecting method and device. The method comprises that a network device generates a loop detection user data protocol UDP message; the network device queries a route corresponding to a target network protocol IP address of the loop detection UDP message; the network device transmits the loop detection UDP message by using the route; the network device receives a first server data message; and the network device determines that the route of a target IP address of a second server data message is a loop route when the first server data message matches the loop detection UDP message. The network device generates the loop detection UDP message and forwards the same to another device. When the network device receives the loop detection UDP message again, namely the loop detection UDP message is returned to the network device after being forwarded by multiple devices, a loop is formed in a network and the route corresponding to the target IP address of the loop detection UDP message is determined as the loop route.
