Abstract

A first of a wireless communication device (22) and a base station (20) performs a method of applying a change to a configuration or state of a radio bearer. The radio bearer supports data transmission over a wireless connection between a wireless communication device (22) and a base station (20) with defined data transmission characteristics. The method includes performing a handshake with a second of the wireless communication device (22) and the base station (20) to agree to apply changes at the wireless communication device (22) and the base station (20) synchronously time. The method also includes synchronously applying the change at the time according to a convention.
