Abstract

The present invention discloses a method and system for an internet protocol television (IPTV) intelligent terminal to carry out IPTV business and internet business. The method comprises the steps that an IPTV intelligent terminal identifies if a target address in a business data package belongs to an IPTV private network address field; if so, the IPTV intelligent terminal sends the business data package to a home gateway by a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) through a first network card; if not, the IPTV intelligent terminal sends the business data package to the home gateway by a point-to-point protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) through a second network card; the first network card is one of a physical network card and a virtual network card while the second network card is the other one of the physical network card and the virtual network card; and the home gateway forwards the uplink business data package to an IPTV private network or the internet according to the transport protocol type of the uplink business data package, forwards a downlink business data package to the first network card after receiving the downlink business data package sent by the IPTV private network and forwards the downlink business data package to the second network card after receiving the downlink business data package sent by the internet. The IPTV intelligent terminal can visit IPTV business and public internet business by connecting one cable into the home gateway instead of manually switching home gateway physical ports which the IPTV intelligent terminal is connected into.
