Abstract

A tracking photovoltaic solar energy system, and a method for installing or for using such tracking, comprising at least a dual-axis tracker unit that maintains an array of photovoltaic modules aligned with the sun. The tracker unit includes a pair of sub-frames supporting the photovoltaic module, a torque tube supporting the sub-frames for rotation about a main axis of rotation, fixed and extending vertically above the anchor base and rotatably rod structures connected to said longitudinal supports, auxiliary rotation means for controlling the orientation of said subframes about respective auxiliary rotation axes of said subframes, said auxiliary rotation axes being perpendicular to said main rotation axis, and for controlling Actuator means for said primary and secondary rotary means.
