[0019] Referring generally to the drawings, a filtration system is shown. The filter system includes a filter housing with a base pipe (eg, standpipe) and replaceable filter elements. The base pipe includes a gasket that blocks the passage from the dirty side of the filter element to the clean side of the filter element when the filter element is mounted on the base pipe in the operative position. The gasket includes an integrated drain passage or channel extending through the gasket. Since the gasket is integrated into the base tube of the filter housing, the gasket remains in place when the filter element is removed (eg, by an operator during service or replacement of the filter element). Removal of the filter element opens a passage through the gasket to allow filtered fluid to drain from the housing back to the tank during service operations. Abstract

A filtration system is described. The filter system includes a filter housing with a base tube and a replaceable filter element. The base tube includes a gasket that blocks the passage from the dirty side of the filter element to the clean side of the filter element when the filter element is mounted in the operative position. The gasket includes an integrated drain port extending through the gasket. The gasket is integrated into the base tube and remains in place when the filter element is removed (eg, during filter element replacement). Removal of the filter element opens the drain to allow fluid to drain from the housing to the canister. Gaskets are reusable and do not need to be replaced every filter element change.
