[0019] Referring generally to the drawings, a filtration system is shown. The filter system includes a filter housing with a base pipe (eg, standpipe) and replaceable filter elements. The base pipe includes a gasket that blocks the passage from the dirty side of the filter element to the clean side of the filter element when the filter element is mounted on the base pipe in the operative position. The gasket includes an integrated drain passage or channel extending through the gasket. Since the gasket is integrated into the base tube of the filter housing, the gasket remains in place when the filter element is removed (eg, by an operator during service or replacement of the filter element). Removal of the filter element opens a passage through the gasket to allow filtered fluid to drain from the housing back to the tank during service operations. Thus, the gasket is reusable and does not need to be replaced at every filter element change, thereby reducing the number of parts...
