[0024] see figure 1 , the figure illustrates a particular aspect of a system, generally designated 100 . The system 100 includes a first device 110 and a second device 120 . While system 100 is shown as comprising figure 1 two devices in , but system 100 may include more than two devices. The first device 110, the second device 120 or both may include a synchronization module 102, a transceiver 104, a detection circuit 130, a capture circuit 132, a memory 136, a processor 138, a synchronization register 108 or a combination thereof. The transceiver 104 of the first device 110, the second device 120, or both, may include a transmitter 194, a receiver 144, or both. The first device 110 , the second device 120 or both may include an antenna 142 . The detection circuit 130 of the first device 110 may be coupled to the antenna 142 of the first device 110 via the transceiver 104 of the first device 110 and the detection circuit 130 of the second device 120 may be coupled to the ...

Abstract

A method includes, at a first device, receiving a packet from a second device. Additionally, the method includes, at the detection circuit, detecting receipt of the packet. Additionally, the method includes, in response to detecting receipt of the packet, the capture circuit capturing a time-of-arrival timestamp corresponding to the packet. Additionally, the method includes, at the first device, receiving from the second device an departure time timestamp corresponding to the packet. The departure time timestamp indicates when the packet was sent from the second device. In addition, the method further includes: performing a comparison of the arrival time timestamp and the departure time timestamp.

Description

[0001] priority claim [0002] This application claims priority to commonly owned U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 020,925, filed July 3, 2014, and U.S. Nonprovisional Patent Application No. 14 / 754,343, filed June 29, 2015, and is hereby incorporated by reference Both applications are expressly incorporated herein in their entirety by way of technical field [0003] In general terms, the present disclosure relates to network clock comparison. Background technique [0004] Improvements in technology have resulted in smaller and more powerful computing devices. For example, a wide variety of portable personal computing devices currently exist, including small, lightweight, and user-friendly wireless computing devices such as portable wireless telephones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and paging devices. In particular, portable wireless telephones, such as cellular telephones and Internet Protocol (IP) telephones, can transmit voice and data packets over wirel...
