Abstract

An air extraction system for a motor vehicle is provided. The air extraction system includes an air extraction device having an air flow control valve and an actuator operably connected to the air flow control valve. Additionally, the system includes a controller configured to activate the actuator and open the airflow control valve when the closure of the motor vehicle is opened, thereby alleviating the effect of a vacuum that would otherwise develop in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle. Such a system is particularly effective in mitigating moon roof sinking on moon roofs equipped with motor vehicles. Related methods are also provided.
