Abstract

A motor vehicle automatic engagement stop system includes an automatic transmission driving at least one wheel and having at least one brake member that prevents rotation of the wheel when engaged and allows rotation of the wheel when disengaged. A controller is in communication with the brake member to control the brake member, with the automatic transmission to control a state of the automatic transmission, and with the signaling device. A brake pedal in communication with the brake member engages the brake member when depressed by the vehicle operator. After the vehicle reaches zero speed, the controller energizes the signaling device to notify the vehicle operator to release the brake pedal and maintain the vehicle stopped while the brake pedal is in the released state and when the vehicle is positioned anywhere between the uphill and downhill oriented planes state.
