Problems solved by technology

Data cannot be moved between different physical devices, making it impossible to achieve load balancing
In addition, when a VM fails, another VM can only be restarted on a physical machine, which will cause a long service interruption

Abstract

Embodiments of the invention disclose a failover method and device. In one embodiment, a method executed at a first node in a cluster comprising a plurality of heterogeneous nodes is provided. The method comprises the steps of determining whether an application at a second node in the cluster has a fault or not; and in response to operation of determining that the application has the fault, facilitating data and a service associated with the application to be migrated to a third node in the cluster from the second node, wherein the migration involves at least one node heterogeneous for the second node in the cluster. The invention furthermore discloses a method executed at the third node in the cluster, a corresponding device and a computer program product.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of computer technology, and more particularly, to methods and devices for failover. Background technique [0002] With the rapid increase of enterprise digital data, the vertical expansion method of improving system performance and capacity by upgrading hardware is limited by the hardware update speed and cannot meet the growing needs of customers. For this reason, a horizontal expansion method of dynamically upgrading the system by increasing the number of physical devices or virtual devices is proposed. The term "physical device" as used herein refers to physical entities such as workstations, blades, mainframes, desktops, laptops, and the like. The term "virtual device" refers to a logical device such as a virtual machine (VM) running on a physical entity through virtual technology. Compared with vertical expansion, horizontal expansion has obvious advantages in terms of real-time...
