Abstract

The invention relates to a steering column (1) for a motor vehicle, having an actuating unit (2), in which a steering spindle (21) is rotatably mounted about a longitudinal axis (22), and having a supporting unit (3) which is designed to connect the actuating unit (2) to the body of a motor vehicle and which has has two side cheeks (32, 33), between which the actuator unit (2) is arranged, and which has continuous openings (35, 36) transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis (22), through which there extends a clamping bolt (41) of a clamping device (4), which clamping device has a lifting mechanism (42), which is supported on one side cheek (32) and can be moved into a fixing position in order to exert a tensile force on the clamping bolt (41), which clamping bolt is supported on the other side cheek (33) by an abutment for bracing the side cheeks (32, 33) having the actuator unit (2), wherein the abutment has a securing element (5), which, fixed with respect to the longitudinal extent of the clamping bolt (41), is connected in a tension-resistant manner to a securing section (46) of the clamping bolt (41).
