Problems solved by technology

[0004] In order to realize the forwarding of data packets in the service chain, the SPI flow table corresponding to the path of each service chain in the prior art needs to be stored on all the SFFs corresponding to the path. When there are a large number of service chains in the network, it will cause There are many entries in the forwarding table on SFF, searching for a large number of entries will reduce the forwarding efficiency of SFF

example 2

[0083] Assume that all SF nodes support NSH encapsulation, such as Image 6 As shown, there are two service chain paths whose head and tail overlap but the middle part does not overlap.

[0084] from Image 6 It can be seen from the RSP in the figure that the two service chain paths of SPI2 and SPI3 are only different in the middle path (the same part is shown in bold). In the prior art, even if the two paths overlap, each path will be stored in the forwarding table stored in the SFF, such as Figures 5a-5c As shown, there will be a problem of many entries in the forwarding table.

[0085] based on Image 6 For the service chain path shown, the forwarding tables generated by SFC for SFF212, SFF213 and SFF214 are as follows Figure 6a , Figure 6b with Figure 6c shown.

[0086] Figure 6a to Figure 6c The path of SPI2 is fully recorded in , so I won’t go into details here, and combine it below Figure 6a to Figure 6c To elaborate on SPI3:

example 3

[0092] Assume that all SF nodes support NSH encapsulation, such as Figure 7 shown in Figure 4 In the shown structure, there may be two service chain paths whose headers overlap.

[0093] from Figure 7 It can be seen from the RSP in the figure that the two service chain paths of SPI4 and SPI5 are only different in the tail path (the same part is shown in bold). In the prior art, even if two paths overlap, each path will be stored in the forwarding table stored in the SFF, which will cause the problem of more forwarding table entries as shown in Example 1.

[0094] based on Figure 7 For the service chain path shown, the forwarding tables generated by SFC for SFF212, SFF213 and SFF214 are as follows Figure 7a , Figure 7b with Figure 7c shown.

[0095] Figure 7a to Figure 7c The path of SPI4 is fully recorded in , so I won’t go into details here, and combine it below Figure 7a to Figure 7c To elaborate on SPI5:

Abstract

The embodiments of the present application relate to the technical field of communication, and particularly relate to a method and a device for forwarding a datagram for reducing items of a forwardingtable on an SFF and improving the forwarding efficiency of the SFF. A first SPI, an SI and a second SPI are packaged in an NSH of the datagram, wherein the first SPI indicates a first service chain path for currently forwarding the datagram; the second SPI indicates a second service chain path assigned by a service chain controller for a service chain where the datagram is located, and the firstservice path is partially superposed with the second service path. The superposed part of the first service chain path and the second service chain path is indicated by the first SPI to multiplex thepath information in the forwarding table, thereby reducing the number of items of the forwarding table and further reducing the memory occupation of the forwarding table.

Description

technical field [0001] The embodiments of the present application relate to the communication field, and in particular, to a method and device for forwarding data packets. Background technique [0002] With the increase of service types of operators, in order to support better service experience, service routing network needs to be deployed in the network, and a service function chaining (Service Function Chaining, SFC) technology is proposed. This technology provides the basis for flexible business processing by linking multiple business functions. The SFC technology classifies the service flow through the service classifier (Service Classifier, SC), and then forwards the data packets of the service chain along the pre-defined service chain path through the service function forwarder (Service Function Forwarder, SFF), The end of the chain forwards the message to the service chain end server (Post Service, PS). [0003] Network Service Header (Network Service Header, NSH) ...
