Abstract

The present disclosure provides an absorbent pad configured to be positioned on a surface. The absorbent pad is configured to absorb and contain bodily exudates and improve the infant's skin health. The absorbent pad comprises a central longitudinal axis, a central transverse axis, a liquid-permeable topsheet, a liquid-impermeable backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the liquid-permeable topsheet and the liquid-impermeable backsheet . The absorbent pad includes a single pair of cuffs extending at least partially between the first end side and the second end side of the absorbent pad. The cuffs are each configured to extend upwardly relative to the topsheet. The absorbent pad includes a wetness guard positioned on a first side of the central transverse axis and having a portion positioned adjacent the first end edge. The wetness guard is positioned to at least a portion of the topsheet and intersects the central longitudinal axis.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to absorbent pads, and more particularly, to absorbent pads configured to be placed on a surface to absorb bodily exudates of an infant positioned on the absorbent pad. Background technique [0002] Absorbent pads are used to contain bodily exudates (eg, urine and BM) of infants, including premature infants and "Neonatal Absent Syndrome" ("NAS") infants. Typically these absorbent pads are placed on a surface and the infant is then placed on top of the absorbent pad. Boys are usually placed face down, and girls can be placed face down or face up. figure 1 An example of a prior art absorbent pad 2 is shown. The absorbent pad 2 may comprise a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet. [0003] Some of the babies placed on these absorbent pads require intensive care from nurses and other medical personnel, especially premature babies and babies with NAS. These babies ar...
