Embodiment Construction
[0044] The invention is now described by way of example only.
[0045] Gypsum plasterboards are prepared from gypsum slurries according to the following method:
[0046] 1. Add polyvinyl acetate (Vinamul 8481 from Celanese Emulsions) to water to form an aqueous suspension;
[0047] 2. Mix glass fiber into the aqueous suspension;
[0048] 3. Add stucco to the aqueous suspension to form a slurry;
[0049] 4. Mix the slurry in a Kenwood mixer (RTM) for 10 seconds at minimum speed;
[0050] 5. Increase the speed and mix the slurry further for 20 seconds;
[0051] 6. Depositing the slurry on the forming surface to form a plate;
[0052] 7. Dry the plate at a temperature of 160°C for 1 hour and further at a temperature of 40°C until a constant weight is reached;
[0053]8. Condition the plate at 23°C and 50% relative humidity until constant weight is reached.
[0054] Table 1 details the composition of the slurry and the density of the board.
[0055] Polyvinyl acetate was ad...
