Embodiment Construction

[0014] As briefly described above, embodiments relate to automatic task flow management across multiple platforms. In some examples, users may be prompted to create tasks based on analysis of incoming or outgoing communications (emails, instant messages, online meetings, etc.), or tasks are created automatically based on reasoning. A user may be allowed to define a task's duration, priority, and / or deadline. Based on the task and user attributes (eg, the user's schedule, other activities related to the task, etc.), calendar items can be created. Created tasks may be trackable through a calendar and / or other application user experiences (eg, task management applications, email applications, and the like). Tasks may be closed automatically upon detection of performance of related activities, or may be closed by a user when prompted. Unfinished tasks can be reflowed (and rescheduled on the calendar) based on tasks, appointments, and other related factors. Based on user prefere...

Abstract

Technologies are provided for automatic task flow management across multiple platforms. In some examples, a user may be prompted to create a task upon analysis of an incoming or an outgoing communication or a task automatically created upon inference. The user may be enabled to define a duration, a priority, and / or a deadline for the task. A calendar item may be created based on task and user attributes such as user's schedule, other activities associated with the task, etc. Created task may be trackable through the calendar and / or through other application user experiences such as a task management application, an email application, and similar ones. Tasks may be closed automatically upon detecting performance of related activities or by the user upon being prompted. Incomplete tasks maybe reflowed (and rescheduled on the calendar) automatically based on task, schedule, and other related factors.

Description

Background technique [0001] In daily life, ordinary people are usually burdened by a large number of personal and professional tasks. With the proliferation of computers and utilities, many people use e-mail, calendaring, and scheduling software for managing tasks and information associated with tasks. For example, common scenarios include people manually recording their work in a calendar application, and manually changing their status when tasks are completed. Task management applications perform similar actions. [0002] However, traditional use of calendars for task management, tasks, and scheduling applications are often static, relying on people to manually manage tasks, their schedules, and completion. As the number of personal and professional tasks grows, the functionality and capabilities of such applications may not be sufficient to address people's needs. Contents of the invention [0003] This Summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts in a simp...
