A flow management system for extracorporeal blood treatment application helps to ensure proper balance of incoming and outgoing fluids by precise balancing of relatively small balance chambers. The invention employs combinations of features that help to ensure accuracy including underfilling of the waste flow side of a fixed volume chamber and mechanical connections to synchronize valves and pumps.

The flow control valve includes a vertically-disposed elongated tubular stator, which is configured to receive flow from a molten metal pump. This document describes, among other things, a router providing service-enabled multicast forwarding for a flow-based architecture. Services are enabled using inbound/outbound policies from Access Control Lists (ACLs). In a first mode, per-flow services are not enabled, and flows are aggregated for efficiency. In a second mode, per-flow services are enabled, and control information for an outbound interface (OIF) is shared across all multicast flows that do not have per-flow service enabled. A flow management scheme for these modes allows dynamic multicast membership updates while reducing disruption of active flows. This supports a large multicast OIF list and a high rate of multicast “Joins” and “Leaves”. This provides scalability and performance, such as desired for deploying multicast for broadband subscriber applications.

At least some embodiments include a computer system for managing a job flow including a memory storing a plurality of batch queue jobs grouped into Services each including a job and a predecessor job. A time difference is the difference between a scheduled job start time and an estimated predecessor job end time. Jobs with a preceding time gap include jobs immediately preceded only by non-zero time differences. The job start depends upon the predecessor job completion. The computer system further includes a processing unit that identifies jobs preceded by a time gap, selects one of the Services, and traverses in reverse chronological order a critical path of dependent jobs within the Service until a latest job with a preceding time gap is identified or at least those jobs along the critical path preceded by another job are traversed.

A cooling system for an electrical motor or generator includes a first cooling loop, a second cooling loop, and a heat exchange system. The first cooling loop may extract heat from an iron stack and winding of the electrical motor or generator. The second cooling loop may extract heat from end turns of the stator winding, the rotor, and the bearings independently from and simultaneously to the first cooling loop. At least the first cooling loop may pass through the heat exchange system. A liquid coolant may circulate in the first cooling loop and a compressed gas, such as compressed air or compressed refrigerant in vapor form, may circulate in the second cooling loop. The invention provides for a fully electrically rechargeable metal anode battery systems and methods of achieving such systems. An electrically rechargeable metal anode cell may comprise a metal electrode, an air contacting electrode, and an aqueous electrolyte separating the metal electrode and the air contacting electrode. In some embodiments, the metal electrode may directly contact the liquid electrolyte and no separator or porous membrane is needed between the air contacting electrode and the electrolyte. Rechargeable metal anode cells may be electrically connected to one another through a centrode connection where a metal electrode of one cell and an air contacting electrode of a second cell are electrically connected. Air tunnels or pathways may be provided between individual metal anode cells arranged in a stack. In some embodiments, an electrolyte flow management system may also be provided to maintain liquid electrolyte at constant levels during charge and discharge cycles.
