Embodiment Construction

[0100] Such as figure 1 and figure 2 As shown, the inhaler 100 has a reusable assembly 109 and a refill assembly 110 .

[0101] Inhaler 100 (or a portion thereof, such as reusable assembly 109 and / or refill assembly 110) has a longitudinal axis A defining an axial direction extending along or substantially parallel to the axis. Refill assembly 110 and reusable assembly 109 are coupled together by moving refill assembly 110 and reusable assembly 109 axially (eg, along axis A) toward each other.

[0102]The inhaler 100 has an air inlet (or suction hole) 101, a display 151 and a display cover 102, control buttons 103, a patient port cover (e.g., mouthpiece cover) 104, an actuator assembly 105, an air-tight cap 106, Rear outer casing 107 and front outer casing 108 . By way of example, air inlet 101, display cover 102, control buttons 103, rear external housing 107 and front external housing 108 are shown forming part of reusable assembly 109, and patient port cover 104, actua...

Abstract

A refill assembly for use in a medicinal inhaler, the refill assembly being configured to be removably coupled to a reusable assembly of a medicinal inhaler, the refill assembly comprising: a patientport; a canister actuable by the reusable assembly to deliver a dose of medicament to the patient port, a sleeve which is selectively actuable by a user independently of the reusable assembly so as toact on the canister to deliver a dose of medicament, the sleeve having a first position in which the sleeve cannot be actuated to cause a dose of medicament to be released from the canister and a second position in which the sleeve is actuable to cause a dose of medicament to be delivered to the patient port; the refill assembly further comprising: an override element which engages the sleeve, the override element being moveable from a first position in which the sleeve is retained in its first position by the override element and a second position in which the sleeve is permitted to move toits second position upon depression of the sleeve by a user.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of UK patent application GB1706504.6 filed 25 April 2017, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates generally to medical inhaler refill assemblies including lock override mechanisms, and particularly, but not exclusively, to medicinal inhalers including such refill assemblies and reusable assemblies. Background technique [0004] Inhalers of the pressurized metered dose inhaler (pMDI), dry powder inhaler (DPI) or nebulizer type are routinely used to deliver aerosolized drugs to the respiratory tract for the treatment of respiratory and other diseases. In particular pMDI inhalers have become the industry standard and are familiar to many patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A conventional pMDI device consists of an aluminum canister that is sealed with a meteri...
