Embodiment Construction

[0060] In the present invention, a network slice, also called a slice, will be defined as a collection of interconnected logical access network functions including core network functions capable of satisfying various ranges of requirements.

[0061] In addition, business roles will be played by customers, service providers, slice providers, partial slice providers, and infrastructure providers.

[0062] A client can be defined as an end customer whose role is to request and own a service. Customers can then, for example, sell the service to end users of the service. A customer may include a customer service management function (CSMF) as a management function. CSMF entities can be used to manage services as managed entities.

[0063] A service provider can play the same role as a traditional operator by providing customers with sub-services or services as well as virtualized network functions (VNFs) and the complete design of the sub-services themselves. A service provider m...

Abstract

The present invention relates to managing a lifecycle of a managed entity inside an operator within a network slicing architecture. The managed entity is one amongst a sub-service or service, a NSI orslice, a NSSI or slice subnet and an infrastructure, and each one is respectively managed by a management function which provides the managed entity to a higher layer management function and is one amongst a SMF, a NSMF, a NSSMF and an IMF. The operator further comprises a delegation entity, which is configured to receive an incoming request from a customer outside the operator and/or from another operator, perform an analysis by analyzing the incoming request, delegate, based on the analysis, the incoming request to at least one of the management functions, and be an end-point providing a programmable interface into the operator in which it is hosted to any other entities external to the operator.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of wireless communication, in particular to multi-operator service lifecycle management in a network slicing architecture. Background technique [0002] In the fifth generation (5G), next-generation network devices and applications will support use cases with a very high diversity in terms of performance attributes compared to the fourth generation (4G) of mobile technology, such as Connectivity for ultra-reliable communications for mission-critical services, eHealth, public safety, real-time vehicle control, tactile internet and drones. To support services with such a diverse range of needs, an architecture that fits all solutions used in 4G networks is not scalable for a myriad of different use cases. Therefore, according to recent standardized agreements, the concept of network slicing is expected to be one of the key building blocks of future 5G networks. In fact, the current understanding of 5G architecture is ...
