Embodiment Construction

[0040] Figure 1-3Various views of a prosthetic heart valve 10 are shown, according to one embodiment. The prosthetic valve shown is configured for implantation in the native aortic annulus, although in other embodiments it may be configured for implantation in other native annulus of the heart (e.g., pulmonary, mitral, and tricuspid valves). valve). Prosthetic valves may also be configured to be implanted in other tubular organs or passages in the body. The prosthetic valve 10 may have four main components: a stent or frame 12, a valve structure 14, an inner skirt 16, and a paravalvular seal or sealing member. Prosthetic valve 10 may have an inflow end portion 15 , a middle portion 17 and an outflow end portion 19 . In the illustrated embodiment, the paravalvular seal includes an outer skirt 18 .

[0041] The valve structure 14 may include three leaflets 41 that together form a leaflet structure that may be arranged to collapse in a tricuspid arrangement, such as figure ...

Abstract

An implantable prosthetic valve can include a radially expandable and collapsible annular frame having an inflow end and an outflow end. Leaflet structures can be positioned within the frame. An annular inner skirt is positionable around an inner surface of the frame, wherein the inner skirt includes an outflow edge portion secured to the frame and an inflow edge portion wrapping around an inflow end of the frame and extending at least partially along the outer surface of the frame, wherein the inflow edge portion is secured to frame. An outer skirt is positionable about an outer surface of the frame, wherein the outer skirt includes an inwardly folded inflow edge portion secured to an outflow edge portion of the frame and an inflow edge portion of the inner skirt to an inflow edge portion.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to implantable, expandable prosthetic devices and methods and apparatus for such prosthetic devices. Background technique [0002] The human heart can suffer from various valvular diseases. These valvular diseases can lead to severe heart dysfunction and eventually the need for artificial valves to replace the natural valves. There are various known artificial valves and various known methods of implanting these artificial valves in the human body. Due to the disadvantages associated with conventional open-heart surgery, percutaneous and minimally invasive surgical approaches are gaining considerable attention. In one technique, a prosthetic valve is configured to be implanted by catheterization in a significantly less invasive procedure. For example, a collapsible transcatheter prosthetic heart valve can be crimped to a compressed state and introduced percutaneously onto a catheter in the compressed state and expanded...
