Abstract

The embodiment of the invention discloses a message processing method. Network equipment obtains a first message, determines a message flow to which the first message belongs, and determines characteristic parameters of the message flow according to the obtained first message when the number of continuously obtained messages belonging to the message flow is greater than or equal to a first threshold value, that is, when the message flow is not a small flow, the time interval between the adjacent messages is smaller than or equal to a first time threshold value. The requirement of the message flow on transmission delay is determined according to the characteristic parameters of the message flow, and the priority of the first message is determined according to the characteristic parameters of the message flow. For the first message of which the message flow is not the small flow, the priority of the first message is not directly determined as the low priority in the traditional technology, but the priority of the first message is determined by combining the characteristic parameters of the message flow to which the first message belongs; and therefore, the determined priority can meet the requirement of the first message on the transmission delay.
