Problems solved by technology

Another disadvantage is the result of the "first come, first served" principle which does not take into account the order in which the waste shafts are emptied
For example, there is often the danger of overloading waste silos in critical areas that are not first in the queue

specific Embodiment approach

[0032] figure 1 is a schematic diagram illustrating an example of a vacuum garbage collection system. As an example, assume that the vacuum garbage collection system 1 is installed in a residential and / or commercial area having many buildings. Each building 2 is fitted with one refuse chute 3, of which only the lower part is shown. In this particular example, the refuse silos are vertical shafts extending vertically through the building, and each shaft typically has several inlet sections (not shown). Each refuse silo is equipped with an openable and closeable discharge valve 4, preferably located at the base of the building. Opening the discharge valve 4 establishes communication between the wellbore 3 and the underground conveying pipe 5, so that waste accumulated on the valve is discharged into the conveying pipe. When the discharge valve 4 is closed, the lower end of the refuse well is blocked to provide a seal between the well and the delivery pipe 5 .

Abstract

This invention is mainly concerned with a vacuum refuse collection system in which refuse chutes (CH) are connected to a transport pipe system through respective discharge valves (DV), and in which communication between a refuse chute and the transport pipe system is established by opening the discharge valve of the refuse chute. The idea according to the invention is to partition discharge valves, and hence corresponding refuse chutes, into groups (G1-G5) and perform controlled emptying of refuse by opening discharge valves on a group basis. More particularly, the control system selects one group at a time for opening of discharge valves within the selected group. In this way, the utilization of the available resources in a vacuum refuse collection system is substantially improved, thus resulting in an efficient and reliable system. The above solution has turned out to be particularly efficient for larger systems, especially in combination with level-controlled emptying.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to refuse management and waste disposal, and in particular to vacuum refuse collection systems, methods of controlling the emptying of refuse in such systems, and control systems for controlling the emptying of refuse. Background technique [0002] Refuse collection systems operating at sub-atmospheric or vacuum pressure to convey waste by air suction have been used for many years and are recognized as an efficient, clean and convenient solution to waste disposal problems. This waste suction conveying system, hereinafter referred to simply as a vacuum waste collection system, works very well and presents very few problems in small and medium-sized residential and office building areas. However, when vacuum waste collection systems are used in larger areas and in larger residential and office areas with multi-storey buildings belonging to high-rise buildings, the requirements placed on the system increase consider...
