Embodiment Construction

[0022] Detailed Description of Preferred Embodiments

[0023] In general, the invention features a more comprehensible and more precisely described interface and method for profiling television programs. The interface includes the TV viewer's likes and dislikes in a multi-axis format. The weighting of audience preferences varies proportionally over time; these preferences are illustrated in a bar graph versus time. The viewer interacts with the graphical representation by moving the list of preferences back and forth in time and providing the necessary revisions and updates.

[0024] now refer to figure 1 , a graphical representation of a typical viewer profile interface 10 is illustrated. The profiles comprise groups 12 of various program preferences, represented in a gestalt diagram. Group 12 programming includes, but is not limited to, action programming, comedy, drama, educational programming, family programming, mystery programming, news, science fiction (Sci-Fi), sp...

Abstract

A new, interactive, television program profile interface and method are described. The interface is used to capture and display the likes and dislikes of a television viewer in multi-axis format. The weighting of the viewer's preferences proportionately changes over time. Those preferences are illustrated in bar graph format with respect to time or other axes. The viewer interacts with the graphical representations by time traversing the preferential chart, and providing necessary modifications and updates.
