Embodiment Construction

[0054] The present invention is described in detail below through examples.

[0055] FIG. 1 illustrates the basic concept of the information reproduction method of the present invention. For the sake of simplicity of description, the most basic class PR(1,1) is taken as an example for illustration. Mode 1 is the basic PRML mode. The bit sequence with the smallest error is selected by comparing the target value of the bit sequence corresponding to two consecutive time points and the value of the reproduced signal as shown in the configuration example. In this example, the number of target levels is 3, which cannot deal with the asymmetry of the reproduced signal and nonlinear intersymbol interference.

[0056] Method 2 is the PRML method disclosed in Technical Digest of ISOM 2002, 269-271 (2002). The compensation value V corresponding to the 2-bit bit array is added to the target value determined by the convolution operation as a new target value, and the bit array having th...

Abstract

Disclosed herewith is an information reproducing method for realizing significant expansion of disk capacity and processing signals having different minimum run lengths, as well as an optical disk drive that uses the method. To achieve the above objects, a PRML method is used. According to the method, a compensation value is added to an initial target value decided by a convolution operation of NN bits according to a bit array consisting of N bits (N>NN) to obtain a new target value, which is then compared with each of reproduced signals sequentially to select a bit array in which the error between the reproduced signal and the target signal is minimized most likely, then the selected bit array is binarized.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an information reproducing method and an information reproducing device using an exchangeable optical disc. Background technique [0002] Among optical discs, CDs and DVDs are very popular, and development of next-generation optical discs using Blu-ray lasers is also underway, and the pursuit of larger capacity continues. In addition, an optical disc device is not only able to play CDs, but also has the functions of playing CDs and DVDs and recording CD-R / RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-R / RW. The performance of record / playback interchange also needs to be improved. [0003] The PRML (Possible Partial Response Maximum) method is widely used as a means for increasing the capacity of magneto-optical disks by improving the S / N (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) well. The PRML method is a method of realizing binary in the most exact bit string while comparing the reproduced signal and the target signal at consecutive N times. Although the direct d...
