Abstract

The present invention provides a service providing system comprising service providing means adapted to provide a service via a network and means adapted to receive the service from the service providing means. The apparatus includes a service requesting unit that requests a service providing apparatus to provide a service, and a service implementing unit that implements a function of the apparatus after receiving the service from the requested service providing apparatus. The service providing device includes a service providing executing unit and a function judging unit, when the service providing device receives a request from the service requesting unit, the service providing executing unit provides a service to the device, and the function judging unit is adapted to be configured according to a function used to indicate that the device is equipped with function information to determine whether the device is equipped with a function for receiving the service provided by the service provision execution unit.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to systems for providing services, devices and servers that can be used in such systems. Background technique [0002] Generally, there is known a system including a terminal device and a host computer, which are interconnected via a network, and each terminal device can use the function of the host computer via the network. An example of such a system is disclosed in Japanese Patent Provisional Publication No. H09-238215. In this system, bit data representing, for example, a command code for control and image density is sent from a terminal device to a host computer, which analyzes the received command code and executes it using an image editing function specified for the image data. Image processing, and returns the processed data to the terminal device for printing. [0003] In this system, a terminal device receives a service provided by a host computer to process image data so that the terminal device can print the ...
