Benefits of technology

The patent describes a plastic handle for a paint bucket that can be easily attached to existing buckets and does not interfere with placing buckets close together on a pallet or in a shurer machine. The handle has a clip for engaging with the bucket hub and is elongated in shape with a narrower central portion that allows for close stowage of multiple buckets. The technical effect of this design is that it provides a convenient and flexible tool for mixing paint while maintaining efficient storage of buckets.

Problems solved by technology

Paint buckets including plastic buckets typically use wire-like metal hails for handles, While being inexpensive and easy to install by machine, present principles understand that metal bails complicate recycling used plastic buckets.

Embodiment Construction

[0019]Referring initially to FIG. 1, a paint container 10 has a hob 2 with a receptacle 14. There is a hub 12 on each side of the paint container 10, although only one is shown in FIG. 1.

The receptacles 14 on their respective hubs 12 are essentially holes with into which a projection of another element, such as a handle, can be inserted and anchored. The recessed internal surfaces of the hubs 12 have a protuberance on the external edge that acts as a threshold for an inserted projection.

[0020]The paint container 10 is shown in FIG. 2 having a plastic handle 16 that is attached to the hubs 12, although the hubs cannot be seen and are thus unlabeled in this figure. The plastic of which handle 16 is made may he polycarbonate, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene, or other suitable rugged, typically hard and transversely flexible plastic. Soft plastics its desirably may be used. A raised hub cover 18 may be located at each end of the plastic handle 16. Each hub cover 18 is fo...

Abstract

A plastic handle for a paint bucket has a unitary elongated hard plastic body terminating at opposed ends. Located at each end are respective outwardly-biased, inwardly-bendable clip areas that together establish a resilient clip for engaging a hub of a paint bucket. An alternate clip may he a single unitary arrow-shaped structure. Surrounding each clip is a respective raised hub cover with opposed chamfered sides configured for conveniently fitting in a paint shaker machine. Wider portions of the body extend inwardly from each end and merge with a central narrower portion that has finger bumps formed on it for gripping. Owing to the small width of the central narrow portion, the handle is disposed very close to the paint bucket in a stowed position in which the handle is moved down against the bucket, to facilitate convenient close stowage of multiple buckets.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION[0001]The present application males generally to plastic paint bucket handles.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION[0002]Paint buckets including plastic buckets typically use wire-like metal hails for handles, While being inexpensive and easy to install by machine, present principles understand that metal bails complicate recycling used plastic buckets.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0003]As also understood herein, a plastic handle, must not only be configured to fit onto existing paint bucket hubs, but also should not unduly impede placing multiple buckets close together on a pallet or impede placement of a single bucket into existing shaker machines to mix the paint. The plastic handle is elongated in shape and includes a unitary elongated plastic body terminating at opposed ends. A resilient clip for engaging a hub of a paint bucket is located at each end of the plastic handle and is established by two outwardly-biased, inwardly-bendable clip arms. Each of the two clips is ...
