Abstract

The present invention relates to an esterquat concentrate suitable for producing fabric softeners at relatively low temperatures, comprising: a) an esterquat compound; b) an organic solvent; c) water; d) a pH regulator . Although the presence of water in esterquat concentrates is generally avoided due to the instability of the hydrolysis reaction that esterquat concentrates are known to cause, in the present invention water is necessary for dispersibility at lower temperatures, This therefore leads to a considerable increase in the viscosity of the final product. One way to solve this problem is to control the hydrolysis reaction by adding selected pH modifiers.
