The method includes A, acquiring ambient brightness parameter values via a brightness sensor and correspondingly transmitting the ambient brightness parameter values to a microprocessor; B, enabling the microprocessor to correspondingly transmit the ambient brightness parameter values to a CPU (central processing unit); C, enabling the CPU to carry out brightness compensation according to the ambient brightness parameter values and transmitting compensated brightness parameters to the microprocessor; and D, enabling the microcontroller to control a projection module to drive a projection lens to carry out projection according to the compensated brightness parameters. The system and the method have the advantages that the ambient brightness of an environment where projection is required is detected by the brightness sensor, the current ambient brightness values are acquired, a brightness compensation algorithm is called by the CPU to compensate the current ambient brightness, required compensated brightness values are acquired, and the microprocessor controls the projection module to drive the projection lens to carry out projection; and the projection brightness can be automatically adjusted according to different ambient brightness, and problems of poor effect and user experience and troublesome operation of a manual brightness adjusting mode are solved.
