Abstract

A method of preventing copying of available video content. The method includes identifying video signal content suitable for the extracted video signal; extracting the video content from the video signal for transmission to a receiver (103); and replacing the extracted video content with damaged video content in the video signal. The method also includes placing the extracted video content in a user data channel of the program stream (105) for transmission to the receiver (103). In addition, the method comprises: transmitting in a first channel (105a) of the program stream (105) the portion of the video signal containing the damaged video content, and in a second channel (105b) of the program stream (105) to the receiver ( 103) Transmitting the extracted video content. The signals transmitted in the program stream (105) are synchronized for presentation on the display (107) of the receiver (103).
