The method comprises firstly configuring an alarm relativity rule and a priority rule to an equipment agent; processing alarm information received by the equipment agent according to the alarm relativity rule and the priority rule, and filtering to obtain the alarm event with the highest priority; and processing the alarm messages according to the principle that only the alarm event with the highest priority is reported. The network management system is equipped with an equipment agent layer alarm filter function enable switch for enabling or disabling the equipment agent layer alarm filter function.
