Embodiment Construction

[0039] exist figure 1 The protective container 1 shown in the schematic sectional view of is suitable for transporting a receptacle 2 containing radioactive material, for example for medical use.

[0040] The container 1 comprises a cylindrical body 3 made of radiation resistant material, ie a bonded tungsten and lead layer. The container body 3 comprises a cylindrical side wall 3a connected to a flat bottom element 3b; the upper edge 3c of said cylindrical wall 3a defines a circular top opening 4, said opening at figure 1 The center is closed by a closure cover 5 also made of radiation-proof material.

[0041] According to the invention and the details described below, the closure cap 5 comprises a mechanism for locking the closure cap to the cylindrical body 3, which mechanism is shaped so as to be activated by a translational movement of the cap 5 in the opening 4, This movement is called "locking movement" and is carried out along the axis of the opening 4 towards the op...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a container for transporting a receptacle (2) containing a radioactive substance for medical use. This container (1 ) comprises on the one hand a shielded body (3) made up of a belt of side walls (3a) connected to a base element (3b) and defining a top opening (4), and on the other hand a shielded closing lid (5) attachable to said top opening (4) by locking means(1 1 ). In accordance with the invention, the locking means (1 1 ) are shaped so as to be activated by a translational movement (22) of the lid (5) in the top opening (4), this being termed the 'locking movement' and taking place along the axis of said opening (4) and towards the opposing base element (3b); and this lid (5) is further equipped with means (16) for deactivating said locking means (11 ) in order to enable it to be separated from said container body (3). In one advantageous embodiment, the lid (5) has a plurality of retractable projecting studs (11 ) designed to fit by a snap-action type phenomenon into at least one complementary housing (21 ) formed in the opening (4) of the container body (3) during the locking movement.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a novel protective container structure made of radiation-proof material for transporting and storing medical radioactive sources. Background technique [0002] In certain fields of medicine, in particular oncology, it is sometimes necessary to administer to a patient an appropriate amount of radioactive material for diagnosis or treatment. [0003] In order to meet safety standards and prevent radiation, these radioactive materials need to be transported and stored in protective containers, which are used to protect any approaching personnel (such as patients, medical staff or personnel responsible for transporting these materials, etc.) from radiation. [0004] In general, existing containers consist of a shielding body formed of radiation-resistant material in which openings for inserting and removing the vial containing the radioactive source are provided. [0005] A protective cover, also made of radiation-resistant materi...
