Problems solved by technology

[0007] The downside in this case is that the crest factor is not the only signature of narrowband signals, since wideband signals can also produce the same crest factor
In addition, there may be narrowband signals that cannot be identified by the crest factor

Embodiment Construction

[0030] exist figure 1 A block diagram of an echo canceller implementing the method according to the invention is shown in , which performs an adaptive control according to the invention as a function of narrowband signal detection.

[0031] The schematic diagram therefore shows an echo canceller constructed according to the invention between the echo paths, namely at the first port S in (wherein the voice signal to be sent on the first port is sent to the echo path) and the second port S out (wherein the echo signal arrives from the echo path on said second port) and the third port R in (The speech signal to be received from the echo path on the third port enters and passes through the fourth port R out Sent to Echo Path) between the arrows.

[0032] Also shown is an adaptation block AB which implements the adaptive filtering, which generates the coefficients necessary for the adaptation and based thereon an output signal, an estimated echo signal, which is directed to the ...

Abstract

The invention relates to methods for controlling adaptive filters, which includes four steps: firstly, when an input end of the filter is in an adaptive phase and at least a first input sign having narrowband frequency occures temporarily, the adaptive phase is continuously, until an echo sign having same frequency range defined by the first input sign is compensated fully; secondly, when the full compensation of the echo sign is reached, the adaptive phase is paused; thirdly, if a second input sign occurs after the first input sign, the adaptive phase is continuous, wherein, the second input sign has the narrowband frequency, and the frequency range differs a frequency value from the first input sign; and the above steps repeat from the first step; or fourthly, if a third input sign having broadband frequency occurs after the first input sign, a new adaptive phase is processed. The invention also relate an apparatus for executing the method.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for adaptive filtering of a signal according to the preamble of claim 1 and a device for adaptive filtering of a signal according to the preamble of claim 7 . Background technique [0002] It is known to use adaptive filters in digital signal processing, ie filters which can independently adapt their filter coefficients to the input signal. [0003] Especially when using adaptive filters in the case of so-called echo cancellers (Echo-Canceller), in telecommunications and in particular via Internet Protocol (IP)-based networks (so-called Voice over IP (VoIP)) When the echo canceller is used in particular for the transmission of speech, the problem arises that if narrow-band signals, for example sinusoidal tones, occur during the filter adaptation phase, an incorrect adaptation occurs. [0004] Adaptive filters also work ideally when the applied signal is white noise, because then all frequencies are present at the same...
