As an example, the control module may detect engine position at intervals greater than, equal to, or less than 90°. An interval greater than or equal to 90° may be referred to as a low-resolution interval. A separation of less than 90° may be referred to as a high-resolution separation.

Fine resolution of engine position can be provided by monitoring in 6° increments.
